Student Recognized as Whittier Police Department's

On Friday, Feb 23, 2018, the Whittier Chamber of Commerce hosted their 20th Silver Shield Awards Banquet. They honored the men and women of the Whittier Police Department. That evening WPD recognized Tatiana Moreyra as WPD "Explorer of the Year".

She attended and graduated from the Tri-Cities ROP Cadet Academy class #32. She was 12 years old when she joined the police explorer program and 13 when she entered the Academy. She said that it taught her discipline and teamwork that helped her become more mature. Tatiana is currently a 17 year old junior at La Habra HS.

She was recently promoted to Lieutenant of the WPD Explorer Post. Today she is a drill instructor at the TCROP Cadet Academy, passing on those lesson to the young recruits who are headed towards a career in law enforcement. She says of the award that she received, "It's not an individual award. I accept it as an award for my post. I know that none of us can do this with out each other."
